| بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ | |
| إِذَا الشَّمْسُ كُوِّرَتْ (١)When the sun (with its spacious light) is folded up; | 81:1 |
| وَإِذَا النُّجُومُ انْكَدَرَتْ (٢)When the stars fall, losing their lustre; | 81:2 |
| وَإِذَا الْجِبَالُ سُيِّرَتْ (٣)When the mountains vanish (like a mirage); | 81:3 |
| وَإِذَا الْعِشَارُ عُطِّلَتْ (٤)When the she-camels, ten months with young, are left untended; | 81:4 |
| وَإِذَا الْوُحُوشُ حُشِرَتْ (٥)When the wild beasts are herded together (in the human habitations); | 81:5 |
| وَإِذَا الْبِحَارُ سُجِّرَتْ (٦)When the oceans boil over with a swell; | 81:6 |
| وَإِذَا النُّفُوسُ زُوِّجَتْ (٧)When the souls are sorted out, (being joined, like with like); | 81:7 |
| وَإِذَا الْمَوْءُودَةُ سُئِلَتْ (٨)When the female (infant), buried alive, is questioned - | 81:8 |
| بِأَيِّ ذَنْبٍ قُتِلَتْ (٩)For what crime she was killed; | 81:9 |
| وَإِذَا الصُّحُفُ نُشِرَتْ (١٠)When the scrolls are laid open; | 81:10 |
| وَإِذَا السَّمَاءُ كُشِطَتْ (١١)When the world on High is unveiled; | 81:11 |
| وَإِذَا الْجَحِيمُ سُعِّرَتْ (١٢)When the Blazing Fire is kindled to fierce heat; | 81:12 |
| وَإِذَا الْجَنَّةُ أُزْلِفَتْ (١٣)And when the Garden is brought near;- | 81:13 |
| عَلِمَتْ نَفْسٌ مَا أَحْضَرَتْ (١٤)(Then) shall each soul know what it has put forward. | 81:14 |
| فَلَا أُقْسِمُ بِالْخُنَّسِ (١٥)So verily I call to witness the planets - that recede, | 81:15 |
| الْجَوَارِ الْكُنَّسِ (١٦)Go straight, or hide; | 81:16 |
| وَاللَّيْلِ إِذَا عَسْعَسَ (١٧)And the Night as it dissipates; | 81:17 |
| وَالصُّبْحِ إِذَا تَنَفَّسَ (١٨)And the Dawn as it breathes away the darkness;- | 81:18 |
| إِنَّهُ لَقَوْلُ رَسُولٍ كَرِيمٍ (١٩)Verily this is the word of a most honourable Messenger, | 81:19 |
| ذِي قُوَّةٍ عِنْدَ ذِي الْعَرْشِ مَكِينٍ (٢٠)Endued with Power, with rank before the Lord of the Throne, | 81:20 |
| مُطَاعٍ ثَمَّ أَمِينٍ (٢١)With authority there, (and) faithful to his trust. | 81:21 |
| وَمَا صَاحِبُكُمْ بِمَجْنُونٍ (٢٢)And (O people!) your companion is not one possessed; | 81:22 |
| وَلَقَدْ رَآهُ بِالْأُفُقِ الْمُبِينِ (٢٣)And without doubt he saw him in the clear horizon. | 81:23 |
| وَمَا هُوَ عَلَى الْغَيْبِ بِضَنِينٍ (٢٤)Neither doth he withhold grudgingly a knowledge of the Unseen. | 81:24 |
| وَمَا هُوَ بِقَوْلِ شَيْطَانٍ رَجِيمٍ (٢٥)Nor is it the word of an evil spirit accursed. | 81:25 |
| فَأَيْنَ تَذْهَبُونَ (٢٦)When whither go ye? | 81:26 |
| إِنْ هُوَ إِلَّا ذِكْرٌ لِلْعَالَمِينَ (٢٧)Verily this is no less than a Message to (all) the Worlds: | 81:27 |
| لِمَنْ شَاءَ مِنْكُمْ أَنْ يَسْتَقِيمَ (٢٨)(With profit) to whoever among you wills to go straight: | 81:28 |
| وَمَا تَشَاءُونَ إِلَّا أَنْ يَشَاءَ اللَّهُ رَبُّ الْعَالَمِينَ (٢٩)But ye shall not will except as Allah wills,- the Cherisher of the Worlds. | 81:29 |
