| بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ | |
| هَلْ أَتَاكَ حَدِيثُ الْغَاشِيَةِ (١)Has the story reached thee of the overwhelming (Event)? | 88:1 |
| وُجُوهٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ خَاشِعَةٌ (٢)Some faces, that Day, will be humiliated, | 88:2 |
| عَامِلَةٌ نَاصِبَةٌ (٣)Labouring (hard), weary,- | 88:3 |
| تَصْلَىٰ نَارًا حَامِيَةً (٤)The while they enter the Blazing Fire,- | 88:4 |
| تُسْقَىٰ مِنْ عَيْنٍ آنِيَةٍ (٥)The while they are given, to drink, of a boiling hot spring, | 88:5 |
| لَيْسَ لَهُمْ طَعَامٌ إِلَّا مِنْ ضَرِيعٍ (٦)No food will there be for them but a bitter Dhari' | 88:6 |
| لَا يُسْمِنُ وَلَا يُغْنِي مِنْ جُوعٍ (٧)Which will neither nourish nor satisfy hunger. | 88:7 |
| وُجُوهٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ نَاعِمَةٌ (٨)(Other) faces that Day will be joyful, | 88:8 |
| لِسَعْيِهَا رَاضِيَةٌ (٩)Pleased with their striving,- | 88:9 |
| فِي جَنَّةٍ عَالِيَةٍ (١٠)In a Garden on high, | 88:10 |
| لَا تَسْمَعُ فِيهَا لَاغِيَةً (١١)Where they shall hear no (word) of vanity: | 88:11 |
| فِيهَا عَيْنٌ جَارِيَةٌ (١٢)Therein will be a bubbling spring: | 88:12 |
| فِيهَا سُرُرٌ مَرْفُوعَةٌ (١٣)Therein will be Thrones (of dignity), raised on high, | 88:13 |
| وَأَكْوَابٌ مَوْضُوعَةٌ (١٤)Goblets placed (ready), | 88:14 |
| وَنَمَارِقُ مَصْفُوفَةٌ (١٥)And cushions set in rows, | 88:15 |
| وَزَرَابِيُّ مَبْثُوثَةٌ (١٦)And rich carpets (all) spread out. | 88:16 |
| أَفَلَا يَنْظُرُونَ إِلَى الْإِبِلِ كَيْفَ خُلِقَتْ (١٧)Do they not look at the Camels, how they are made?- | 88:17 |
| وَإِلَى السَّمَاءِ كَيْفَ رُفِعَتْ (١٨)And at the Sky, how it is raised high?- | 88:18 |
| وَإِلَى الْجِبَالِ كَيْفَ نُصِبَتْ (١٩)And at the Mountains, how they are fixed firm?- | 88:19 |
| وَإِلَى الْأَرْضِ كَيْفَ سُطِحَتْ (٢٠)And at the Earth, how it is spread out? | 88:20 |
| فَذَكِّرْ إِنَّمَا أَنْتَ مُذَكِّرٌ (٢١)Therefore do thou give admonition, for thou art one to admonish. | 88:21 |
| لَسْتَ عَلَيْهِمْ بِمُصَيْطِرٍ (٢٢)Thou art not one to manage (men's) affairs. | 88:22 |
| إِلَّا مَنْ تَوَلَّىٰ وَكَفَرَ (٢٣)But if any turn away and reject Allah,- | 88:23 |
| فَيُعَذِّبُهُ اللَّهُ الْعَذَابَ الْأَكْبَرَ (٢٤)Allah will punish him with a mighty Punishment, | 88:24 |
| إِنَّ إِلَيْنَا إِيَابَهُمْ (٢٥)For to Us will be their return; | 88:25 |
| ثُمَّ إِنَّ عَلَيْنَا حِسَابَهُمْ (٢٦)Then it will be for Us to call them to account. | 88:26 |
